Built by Community
DeKalb Public Services is led by a team of community members, volunteers, and professionals who care deeply about access, dignity, and showing up for people. Our team brings together lived experience, local knowledge, and a shared commitment to supporting individuals and families across DeKalb County.
Our work is built on collaboration and participation, with team members contributing through outreach, education, program support, and coordination. We focus on showing up consistently, responding to community needs, and supporting efforts that improve access to information and services across DeKalb County.
Collaboration at the Core
DeKalb Public Services operates through collaboration. Our team works closely with volunteers, local religious leaders, schools, nonprofits, and community partners to plan, coordinate, and deliver programs. Program planning reflects conversations, feedback, and needs shared directly by community members and partners.
Meet our dedicated team
Dedicated professionals enhancing community well-being
Malik Issak
Executive Director
Growing up in Clarkston shaped my values and sense of responsibility to community. That foundation stayed with me as I spent time abroad. Spending time in Malaysia gave me the opportunity to volunteer and engage directly with local communities in a hands-on way. During that time, I supported COVID-19 vaccination outreach alongside Malaysia’s Ministry of Health, which reinforced the importance of accessible public services, trust, and clear communication. After returning home, I focused on applying those experiences in a practical, community-centered way. Today, my work is rooted in access, trust, and clarity.
Camryn Grimes
Treasurer
I joined DeKalb Public Services because of its vision to strengthen the community and its commitment to providing clear, reliable, and accessible services to the people it serves.
Salwa Issak
Secretary
Focused on youth education and community learning, Salwa supports programs that help children build strong foundations in knowledge and values. She began volunteering as a Sunday school teacher in 2023, earned a permanent teaching role in 2024 at Masjid Omar in Lilburn, and in September 2025 joined Najam Center in Lilburn to teach children Monday through Thursday. She graduated high school in 2025 and is continuing her education in Religious Studies.
Liban Issak
