Need help?

Here are answers to common questions about our programs, services, and how we support the community.

Are your services free?

Most of our services are provided at no cost, including education, benefits guidance, workshops, and general support. Immigration assistance is offered on a sliding-scale fee, which helps support and sustain our other community programs.

Do you complete applications for clients?

We provide guidance and education on eligibility, requirements, and where to apply. In some cases, we assist with forms when permitted, but we do not provide legal representation.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome when staff are available. Some services and workshops are offered at scheduled times.

Who can use your services?

Our services are open to individuals, families, and community members seeking information, education, or referrals. Eligibility may vary depending on the program discussed.

Do you provide legal advice or representation?

No. We provide information, education, and general assistance only. We do not provide legal, financial, tax, or professional advice, and we do not act on anyone’s behalf. Our role is to help people understand options and next steps.

How often are programs or events hosted?

We regularly host workshops, community sessions, and outreach events throughout the year. Program schedules vary, and updates are shared on our website and through our announcements.

We work locally, partner locally, and design our programs with DeKalb residents in mind. Every service, workshop, and initiative is shaped by real experiences and real barriers faced in our community.

As a nonprofit we exists to make systems easier to navigate and support easier to access — without the complexity.
