LearnU is an educational program that provides interactive, age-appropriate learning experiences for youth and young adults. Programs are designed to support skill development, critical thinking, and real-world awareness through hands-on activities, group discussions, and guided exploration.

LearnU workshops cover a range of topics, including understanding everyday systems, problem-solving, decision-making, digital awareness, and practical life knowledge. Content is adapted by age group and delivered in a supportive, engaging environment that encourages participation and learning through experience.

Programs are offered in partnership with schools, community organizations, and local venues.

All LearnU activities are educational in nature and do not provide financial, legal, or professional advice.

Our outreach focuses on sharing clear, practical information to help community members better understand public assistance programs and how eligibility generally works. We emphasize clarity over complexity, using plain language and real-world context to explain what options may exist and what questions to ask. Outreach efforts highlight accurate, official information and trusted resources. All information is shared to support learning, awareness, and understanding.

We provide general education on health coverage systems, including the types of coverage available, common terminology, and important timelines. Our goal is to reduce confusion and help community members better understand how coverage works.

Our outreach includes informational sessions that explain how public assistance systems are structured, what programs exist, and where individuals can find accurate, official information. All content is educational and non-directive.

We help individuals and families become aware of local and regional resources by sharing information on where to seek support and how to identify trusted organizations. This work focuses on awareness and access to information, not service provision.

*Information is shared to help people learn and stay informed. DeKalb Public Services does not offer legal, medical, financial, or tax advice.

DeKalb Public Services is preparing to launch a community food pantry program to support individuals and families with access to essential groceries. Once launched, the pantry is planned to operate once a month on the first Monday of each month.

In addition to the monthly pantry, we plan to periodically partner with local community organizations—such as churches, mosques, nonprofits, schools, and libraries—to host mobile food distribution events in different communties.

Dates, times, and locations for all food pantry days and mobile food drives will be shared in advance through our website and community updates.

This program has not yet begun and is currently in planning.

Once approved as a Georgia Gateway Community Partner, DeKalb Public Services will support individuals and families by assisting with benefit applications, renewals, and reported changes through the state system. This includes helping clients navigate required steps, submit information, and interact with official state processes in an organized and timely manner.

Support may also include uploading required verification documents, accessing case information, and helping clients understand official notices and case updates issued through Georgia Gateway. All assistance is provided using state-approved systems and in coordination with program requirements.

Services are provided through the Georgia Gateway Community Partner portal and are subject to state approval and partnership status.
