Volunteers are the reason DPS can do what it does. Whether you’re tutoring a student, helping run a program, or handling tasks behind the scenes — your time makes a real difference for families in DeKalb County.
Become a Volunteer →You don’t need a specific background to volunteer with us — you need to show up and care. Here are a few of the ways people get involved.
Help us connect with families in the community — at events, through word of mouth, and by making sure people know what’s available to them. If you’re a connector and a people person, this is for you.
Support the people running DPS programs on the ground — Little Lions, Boys & Girls Club, Mom’s Circle, food pantry days. Show up, help things run smoothly, and be a steady presence for the people we serve.
Work one-on-one or in small groups with young people in our programs — helping with academics, life skills, or just being a consistent adult who shows up. This is the kind of volunteering that sticks with people.
Help keep things organized behind the scenes — scheduling, communications, data entry, writing, and other tasks that free up staff to focus on programs. Remote-friendly for the right tasks.
DPS started because families in DeKalb County needed support that wasn’t there. What exists now — the programs, the people, the trust — came from people who decided to show up. Volunteers are part of that story.
When you volunteer with DPS, you’re not filling a slot on a spreadsheet. You’re working alongside a community that takes care of each other. The families we serve notice. The kids remember.
